Watch Repairs & Servicing

Each of the watch brands for which we are authorised retailers have different procedures for servicing and repairs. Our trained staff have the technical knowledge to ensure that your timepiece will be treated by experts in their field. Some can be serviced here in New Zealand by qualified watchmakers and some must be sent to the makers’ service centres.

When you bring your watch to us our staff will indicate a time frame and cost for a simple repair or service. For more complex issues our staff will provide you with a detailed repair quote once the nature of the problem has been assessed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my watch be serviced?

To keep your mechanical watches (automatic or manual) running smoothly, we recommend aiming for a full service every 5 to 7 years. Quartz watches usually need a new battery every 2 to 4 years, depending on the brand and model, and a complete check-up every 7 to 10 years.

If your watch is water-resistant, it's a good idea to have it pressure-tested once a year, preferably before summer, to make sure it stays waterproof for swimming and other water activities.

What is the process of arranging my timepiece or jewellery to be serviced/repaired?

Any of our stores can receive your timepiece or jewellery for assessment.

If you don't live close to a Partridge store we are happy to receive your watch via tracked courier, please contact us to find out more.

Do you do link adjustments?

Yes, we are more than happy to adjust the links of any brand we carry. This is a complimentary service.

What is the timeline for repair/service of my watch?

The time required to service or repair a watch varies depending on the brand and the complexity of the work involved. General repairs take about 4 to 6 weeks. However, more intricate tasks, such as a complete service for a mechanical watch, might extend the timeline to 6 to 8 weeks, or even up to 14 to 16 weeks in some cases. It's important to remember that these estimates are not set in stone and can be influenced by factors like the availability of parts and the current workload of the repair center.

Do you provide valuations for watches and jewellery?

Absolutely, we are happy to arrange a valuation for your timepiece or jewellery. There is a flat fee of $150 for this service.

Can I order a new strap or bracelet from you?

We are pleased to offer assistance with ordering straps, bracelets, or extra links for any of the brands we stop. Visit us in store at one of our boutiques, and our expert staff will guide you through the options.
