An Artist’s Story
David Yurman is a timeless model of inspiration, innovation and consummate craftsmanship. America’s foremost luxury jewellery and timepiece brand, the company was founded in New York City by David, a sculptor, and his wife Sybil, a painter, and built on a passion for art and design. When they began collaborating, their intention was not to start a business but to make beautifully designed objects to wear.
In 2003, their son, Evan Yurman joined the company and has played an integral role in the design direction of the Men’s, Wedding and High Jewellery Collections. Today, Evan collaborates with David and Sybil on every aspect of the business.
As a sculptor, David Yurman was fascinated by the cable forms in Greek, Roman, and Celtic jewellery, captivated by their enduring elegance. In 1982, he twisted 50 feet of wire by hand to create the very first Cable bracelet. Today, each Cable design combines David's artistic vision with technological innovation. For over four decades, the twisted helix has become an iconic, ever-evolving house signature — the classic form that runs through every collection.
The Starburst collection tells the story of a once-in-a-lifetime moment: one night in Paris, Sybil and David Yurman watched fireworks over the Eiffel Tower. Moved by the display, David transformed it into design. Brilliant diamonds are set by hand into 18ct gold, forming dramatic constellations that capture a radiant celebration of light.
Inspired by architecture and bas-relief sculpture, our iconic Cable is deconstructed to its essence and transformed into a new house icon. Mesmerising curves and brilliant diamonds dramatically reflect the light in these carved sculptural forms — a symbol of sculpting your own path.
