In 1926, Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, created a new watch brand: TUDOR. His intention was for TUDOR watches to have the same standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. The TUDOR of today has not drifted away from the original vision. While strictly adhering to the fundamentals of excellence, the design of a TUDOR watch reinterprets a rich history to create something truly unique.
Born from the will to go beyond the standards, TUDOR’s watchmaking philosophy draws its inspiration from its heritage, while incorporating state-of-the-art technology, exclusive innovations and pioneering creativity.
This is reflected in TUDOR’s long history of creating exceptional divers’ watches. The first was launched in 1954, and this, and subsequent models, quickly positioned TUDOR as the brand of choice for professional divers. They have been acclaimed by the Marine Nationale Française, the US Navy and other important military organisations throughout the world which have used them to equip their elite personnel.
TUDOR timepieces are also acclaimed by elite athletes. The All Blacks wear the Black Bay, a vintage-inspired, steel diver’s watch which perfectly matches the team aesthetic.
As robust as the wearers and tested to the extreme, the Black Bay pays homage to the more than 60 years TUDOR has spent perfecting the ideal professional’s watch.
Other notable TUDOR ambassadors, who also embrace the TUDOR slogan ‘Born to Dare’, include Lady Gaga, David Beckham and Jay Chou.
The TUDOR brand continues to rigorously maintain its reputation for producing robust, reliable timepieces, while setting production standards higher and higher. Today, all movements in the Heritage Collection are produced in-house, and all Black Bay watches are COSC certified.
