Tag Heuer timepieces have always stemmed from cutting edge research at the forefront of the watchmaking industry. The company’s revolutionary technologies include the oscillating pinion for mechanical stopwatches in 1887, the first automatic-winding chronograph movement ( Calibre 11) in 1969, the first luxury smartwatch in 2015, and the ground-breaking Isograph technology in 2019 to name but a few.
Shortly after the company’s inception, TAG Heuer introduced the Mikrograph - a mechanical chronograph five times more accurate than any other - and became the official timekeeper for the most famous sports competitions. With the arrival of motorsports, TAG Heuer became the first watchmaking brand to sponsor the Formula 1 World Championship. In honour of this connection, the first Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch was launched in 1985.
