Rolex and Partridge Jewellers History
For over one and a half centuries since the company was founded, Partridge Jewellers has represented New Zealand customers, specialising initially in silverware and expanding over the years to provide an exquisite range of jewellery and luxury watches.
Six generations
There are few families in New Zealand who can claim to have a business going back almost 200 years, let alone a jewellery dynasty. The Partridge family is the exception.
Our unique story spans two countries and covers six generations. There is a common theme of family unity, the passing of knowledge and values from one generation to the next, and the highest commitment to craft, quality and service.
Partridge founder
Grandson of a manufacturing jeweller from Devon, James Partridge arrived in New Zealand in 1864 with his family. He established a reputation for exquisite workmanship in Timaru, later moving to open in Manchester Street, Christchurch and from where his son Linnaeus continued the Partridge legacy.
